OUR RECEPTION EVENT STORY

HOW A FIRST DATE WEEKEND COLLIDED WITH PHILIP’S PAST

Our first get-away weekend (October 2022) was attending the King of Prussia beer festival. With a large selection of different beers and ciders, food trucks, live music, and, of course, being near a shopping mall, we had a great weekend. It was the first beer festival Lynn ever attended, and not knowing what to expect, she was greatly surprised how fun they can be.

When we committed to marriage, we did not want a traditional or destination wedding, including its reception. We desired it to be a fun event and a memory to share with our sons. Something different.

But a potential issue was the fact that Philip has been known to crash wedding receptions, and there may be a list of people who would like to return the favor.

We identified the basic things we desired at our reception: food, drinks, and music. But it takes a lot of effort (and expenses) to secure facilities, caterers, and musicians. In addition, to make it a memory with our sons, we did not want the formalities of a traditional wedding reception, but instead, desired a casual event where we can hang out with family and friends.

So how do we accomplish our goal while countering the issue of potential wedding crashers?? By returning to our first weekend date — a beer festival!!

Food, drinks, and live music…….check.

Causal environment…….check.

Facility/Event available rain or shine…….check.

Reception Crashers…..sure, but you’ll need to buy a ticket! Ha!

We understand a beer festival may not be for everyone. There will be a crowd of people which is not to everyone’s liking, and schedules may not permit attendance either. That’s okay!!

We’re having a post-reception gathering to give people a different venue to meet up with us and the opportunity to cap off the night.

LET’S GO!!

Cheers!!
